Position Objective:
As a plant technician/operator, a wide variety of duties will be assigned including operating and overseeing plant operation, clean up, minor equipment maintenance and repairs, and reporting of mechanical failures, and/or material inconsistencies to supervisor. This position is for portable asphalt plants.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare plant for operations at the beginning of the season, and perform shut down procedures at the end of the season.
  • Understanding and operations of blending controls and calibrations
  • Understanding of stack emissions and fine tuning of burner productions.
  • Responsible for production of hot mix and ensuring the efficient working condition of the plant.
  • Ensure that all assigned equipment is properly maintained, clean, in safe working order and operated properly.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the hot plant manager.
  • Safely unload liquid hot oil from delivery truck.
  • Complete daily plant production and inventory reports as well as track fuel, oil propane and lime inventories.
  • May be required to operate heavy equipment (loader or skidsteer).
  • Use tools such as sledge hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, cutting torch, welder, pneumatic hammer/drill, sand blaster, pipe wrench, hand shovel in the operation or maintenance of plant.
  • Perform general labor duties when necessary.
  • May perform other related duties.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of plant operation, maintenance and electrical systems required.
  • Computer literate – Microsoft Office including Excel experience preferred.

Position Objective:
This position is responsible for gravel acquisition and permitting as well as testing, sampling and inspecting materials in a field setting to ensure compliance with the contract specifications.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for gravel prospecting for potential projects and future use.
  • Responsible for acquisition and permitting of new gravel sources.
  • Responsible for gravel pit reclamation.
  • Update and maintain ARCGIS software on gravel research and existing pits.
  • Perform field and laboratory testing of gravel to determine gradations. Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
  • Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily submittal to Project Manager.
  • Sampling, testing and inspecting aggregates. Performing calculations and data reduction of test results. Using field screening equipment and documenting readings.
  • Maintain timely, consistent communication with plant management to ensure manager is appraised of any of test results and any issues that may affect the quality of the materials
  • Monitoring quality assurance.

Competencies:

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Requires knowledge of aggregate sources in MT, WY, ND and possibly other surrounding states.
  • Understand gradations and specifications
  • Basic knowledge of lab equipment
  • Engineering degree or 3+ years experience in Construction or a related field required.

  • Ensure that all assigned equipment is properly maintained, clean, in safe working order and operated properly.

Position Objective:

This is a highly skilled position involving various manual tasks (finishing, forming, stripping, tying rebar, foundation preparation, etc.) associated with the concrete construction.

Essential Functions:

  • Finishes wet surfaces to grade on all types of concrete work requiring a fine finish.
  • Uses tools such as float, trowel, screed, template, hand shovel, 10’-16’ straight edge on extended handle up to 15’ long.
  • Operates concrete finishing machine
  • The finisher must have knowledge of equipment/tools and their uses. The finisher is also responsible for the efficient working condition of the tools/equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance as needed and refer major problems to the supervisor.
  • Thoroughly understand all requirements of the project you are paving—edge slump, vertical face, pavement thickness, offset, consolidation and surface appearance.
  • Tasks include aligning and bracing portions of project assembly, using bubble leveler, boards, nails and hammer. Measures distances between columns using tape measure or laser sighting.
  • Installs outside and inside form panels using physical strength or, if necessary, pneumatic hoist. Insert pins or wall ties through holes in concrete form panels to support, lift, and position panels.
  • Removes obstructions in grooves with hammer and chisel. Patches holes, cracks, and joints in assembled sections using mortar and trowel or necessary tools.
  • Fill forms or panels with wet concrete and then vibrate, screed, trowel, or prepare surface to ensure proper concrete settling and surfacing as necessary or as described in plan.
  • Top off, screed or float the top of wall with necessary tools as required.
  • Perform general labor duties when necessary.

Competencies:

  • 2-5 years of experience required, ACI Certification preferred.
  • Must have own hand tools and boots.

Position Objective:

Drivers will safely and efficiently operate truck equipped with a concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to commercial locations.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the safe and responsible operation of concrete mixer truck.
  • Responsible for visually inspecting the delivery ticket, ensuring the slump is correct, visually inspecting the load if appropriate and ensuring that all additives and extra products are on or in their truck before leaving the yard.
  • Responsible for inspecting vehicle for proper and safe operating condition before and after each trip and reporting any defects to supervisor.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor.
  • Clean inside of truck on a regular basis. Clean outside of truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck.
  • Must maintain a DOT driver’s log and other required transport documentation, adhere to all local, state, and federal (FMCSA) regulations and ensure DOT compliance at all times.
  • Must keep time and material records.
  • Effectively communicate via 2-way radio with supervisor and other team members.
  • Position requires working with truck components, including brake adjustments, tie-down of equipment, as well as climbing in/out of cabs, on/off and over/under equipment, and sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Be observant of changing road/traffic conditions and adjust driving accordingly.
  • Complete and submit all paperwork in a timely manner.

Competencies:

  • Class A CDL with tanker endorsement required
  • Clean driving record, trucking experience and knowledge of FMCSA Regulations required.

Position Objective:

This position is responsible for providing project management support to the Division Manager.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for the management and coordination of all aspects of a construction project.

  • Responsible for gravel prospecting for potential projects and future use.
  • Supervise Project Engineer and Superintendent (s) on project.
  • Responsible for equipment selection, staffing and productivities.
  • Managing financial oversight; estimating, budget review, change orders, billing and overall profit/loss reporting.
  • Maintaining project records; timecards, daily productions, documentation and correspondence.
  • Monitoring quality assurance.
  • Managing fuel reporting.
  • Coordinating tool and equipment tracking.
  • Obtaining required permits.
  • Coordinating and tracking deliveries of equipment, materials, forms, etc.

Competencies:

  • Engineering degree or 5+ years experience in Construction or a related field required.

  • Computer literate – Microsoft Office including Excel experience preferred.

Job Description:

The Curb Machine Operator is responsible for driving and operating the curb machine to extrude concrete curbing on parking lots, city streets and state highways. Reads specifications to determine layout and shape of curbing to be installed.

Essential Functions:

  • Knowledge of equipment safety and the ability to operate in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
  • Perform daily equipment walk around to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
  • Safely and properly operate curb machine (including starting and stopping engine and setting up).
  • Read grade hubs and set string line for curb machine.
  • Advise job foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
  • Maintain daily production records.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation, and excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to determine concrete slump and have some understanding of mix designs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Capable of blue topping roads and pads.
  • Fully understand the controls and function of the blade.
  • Operate all controls and functions in a safe and non-abusive manner.
  • Communication via 2-way radio.
  • Achieve acceptable rough and finish grade in all types of soils and conditions.
  • Read and understand grades on stakes.
  • Watch and report on wear items (i.e. cutting edges, teeth).
  • Other tasks as assigned.

  • 2+ years finish blade operations experience required.
  • Experience with TOPCON Machine Control preferred.

Job Description:

Position is responsible for checking fluid levels (Fuel, Grease and Oil) and performing preventive maintenance (lubrication, oil changes, oil/air filters and oil samples) on all heavy equipment on the job site according to schedules or as needed. The oiler also safely operates a lube/grease truck to dispense lubricants to construction equipment. Also the oiler will be required to assist the mechanic during repairs.

  • Work under supervision of project superintendent or other designated person
  • Prepare service truck for use
  • Miscellaneous parts running and servicing
  • Service the asphalt plant, including generator oil change
  • Make daily walk-around of all rolling stock

  • Responsible for the safe and responsible operation of end dump, side dump, and belly dump trucks, including pup trailers.
  • Responsible for inspecting vehicle for proper and safe operating condition before and after each trip.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor. Clean equipment on a regular basis.
  • Must maintain a DOT driver’s log and other required transport documentation, adhere to all local, state, and federal (FMCSA) regulations and ensure DOT compliance at all times.
  • Must keep time and material records.
  • Effectively communicate via 2-way radio with supervisor and other team members.
  • Position requires working with truck components, including brake adjustments, tie-down of equipment, as well as climbing in/out of cabs, on/off and over/under equipment, and sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Travel to outlying areas may be required and position may occasionally be required to stay overnight.
  • Be observant of changing road/traffic conditions and adjust driving accordingly.
  • Complete and submit all paperwork in a timely manner.

Competencies:

  • Class A CDL with tanker endorsement required
  • Clean driving record, trucking experience and knowledge of FMCSA Regulations required.
  • Display an uncompromising focus on safety by properly following company policies and MSHA/DOT/DEQ regulations for safe working procedures and protection of the environment.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
  • Be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Ability to do basic math.
  • Must require minimal supervision.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Completion of grade 12 or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • At least 20/40 acuity (Snellen) in each eye with or without correction. At least 70 degrees peripheral in horizontal meridian measured in each eye.
  • Must be able to perform with or without accommodations.
  • Must be available to travel in Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming.

Work Demands & Environment:

  • Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, and as needed, safety-toed boots, respirator, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment.
  • Employee will be required to work in outdoor environments which may include exposure to extreme temperatures and weather.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, stand, sit, shovel, sweep, rake, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms, possibly for extended periods.
  • Requires occasional moving/lifting of up to 50 pounds during the course of the work day.
